If you’ve been following me for a bit, you know I’m deep in rom-com land right now. (Like, deep. I just submitted my final round of edits to my agent last week.) I can’t say too much just yet—because publishing timelines are a whole thing—but I did want to pull back the curtain a little and share how I create characters. Specifically, the characters in this current book that’s in development and soon heading out on submission (eek).

I always find these “behind the scenes” glimpses helpful from other writers, so I hope this is helpful for you too — whether you’re writing something of your own, or just nosy (same). Here’s how I go about building the people who live in my stories.
